'Stranger To Myself' from our debut album 'Seven Wisdoms of Plutonia' - Remixed by Nyumo & Dr Fe

Nyumo (n'you:mo) is the soulful alter ego of Kris Putzeys, also known as Damented, a producer and world champion dj with The Mixfitz and formerly of Killa Tactics. But never one to find true creative fulfillment in playing other people's records, there was always a need for him to branch out into making music. Whether as a hiphop producer or as an instrumentalist in one of his bands, writing songs was at his essence. And with a musical taste as broad as his record collection, Nyumo draws inspiration from soul, jazz, hiphop, neo-classical and contemporary electronic music.

Dr Fre is a producer, composer, musician and remix artist making mostly electro swing, balkan beat, Afro funk, latin vibes and progressive/house music. Dj Dr Fre plays additional (afro)funk, minimal, electro and disco.

'Stranger To Myself' originated from studying the pentatonic Ethiopean scales used in one of our major influences, the classic ethio-jazz, as recorded during the sixties and seventies.
Experimenting with the ambassel scale immediately led to mysterious and dreamy melodies, which became the blueprint for Stranger To Myself.
At the time, we had just acquired a few old combo organs, which were just screaming to be part of the song, adding some old skool vibe.
Initially, the song would feature a vibraphone, but we actually grew too fond of the provisional xylophone on the track to have it replaced.
And so, things fell into place for Stranger To Myself. Hope you’ll enjoy it.
